The 4 E3 2018 Games We Enjoyed

posted in: Entertainment | 2

E3 2018, the world’s most anticipated premier event for computer and video games, has just ended. E3 is undoubtedly the biggest video game news event of the year. It is where huge game companies such as Nintendo, Sony, Bethesda and Ubisoft will announce their upcoming game developments. This year’s E3 has been full of surprises and excitement. Here are some of the highlights:

  1. The Last of Us Part II

It was back in 2013 when Naughty Dog and Sony released the critically acclaimed The Last of Us. The game went on to win countless awards for its narrative, gameplay as well as its visual and sound design. Released as a Playstation exclusive, The Last of Us chronicled the heartrending journey of a smuggler, Joel, and a teenage girl, Ellie, through their apocalyptic, zombie-infested world. This year, Naughty Dog released a gripping trailer for the sequel where we got to see Ellie stealth through an enemy camp and ruthlessly kill her adversaries. The trailer also included a contentious kiss between Ellie and her friend that pretty much broke the internet.

  1. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Following 2017’s Assassin’s Creed: Origins, Ubisoft has announced an eleventh addition to the long-running franchise with a confirmed title: Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey. Although Ubisoft has let fans down before with previous instalments, our confidence in the developer has been restored with the success of Origins last year. This year, Ubisoft released a reveal trailer during its conference that confirms its Greek setting. Besides that, Ubisoft has decided to make Odyssey more of an RPG. That means our choices will matter when we interact with the characters of the game. Furthermore, girl gamers will be delighted to hear that Odyssey will allow players to choose to be either a female or a male character.

  1. Death Stranding

How long will Kojima keep us waiting? Hideo Kojima’s newest development – Death Stranding – boasts of a star-studded cast. This includes Walking Dead favourite, Norman Reedus, and Oscar-winning director, Guillermo Del Toro. At E3 2018, Kojima revealed a trailer featuring award-winning actress Léa Seydoux. Her character is the most enigmatic of all; she seems to know an exceptional amount of knowledge of the world. To step it up a notch, her lines leave us even more confused about the strange happenings around the characters. With this trailer, the Lovecraftian world of sludge-stained shores and strange mythical happenings comes to life. It is now pretty clear eccentric inter-dimensional beings and strange test tube babies populate this world. Fortunately for us, Kojima has previously revealed that Death Stranding will be released before 2019!

  1. Kingdom Hearts III

It has been 13 years. Finally, Kingdom Hearts III has been revealed at E3 2018. Long-time fans can expect to see many new worlds such as a Pirates of the Caribbean world, a Toy Story world, a Frozen world and many more! We need not wait any longer as the release date has been announced to be only a few months away. The initial release date has been revealed to be early 2019. It will be pretty soon before we are able to see characters such as Elsa and Anna in Frozen and Boo and Sully in Monsters Inc interacting with the gang!
